GORDON SMITH

Blues Singer and Guitarist

Described by legendary British radio presenter, John Peel, as

"The foremost white blues guitarist in the world".

Gordon Smith is back…. and playing better than ever before.

Gordon recorded his first album 'Long Overdue' in 1968 on the legendary blues label Blue Horizon for producer, Mike Vernon.

On this album Gordon had none other than 'Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac' as it was then known.

Not surprisingly, this album has become a collectors classic and people have often wondered of the whereabouts of Gordon Smith today.

Today Gordon lives in London. He plays finer than ever and Gordon's music if often referred to by fellow musicians and his audience as ……. 'the real thing'.

Gordon's career is deeply rooted in country blues and over the years he has performed with Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Snooky Prior, Dr Ross, Jo-Anne Kelly and Muddy Waters to name just a few.

During the seventies Gordon joined The Kevin Coyne Band and recorded five albums for the Virgin record label.

After departing from Kevin Coyne to form his own band Gordon toured Italy and cut two albums for the respected 'Appaloosa' record label.

The eighties soon followed and with regard to live performances, Gordon went into semi-retirement.

Gordon has indeed returned, much to the delight of British audiences and in 2001 he appeared at The Colne International Blues Festival as headline artist on the acoustic stage.

He has recorded a new album, 'Out Of The Bottleneck' which is evidence of his seductive yet masterful approach to country blues.
